Relko Restoration & Masonry Ltd moved into the Premier League and scored a fine goal by securing a contract working at the famous Aston Villa Football Ground Holte End refurbishment project.
The work involves cleaning the existing pre-cast stone feature wall copings, cappings and orbs removing unsightly moss and algae growths using controlled pressure water jetting. As the masonry is at variable heights and positions the work requires the use of MEWP’s to gain safe access. Relko’s team of IPAF qualified and skilled stone cleaners are carrying out the task following samples approved by project architect, the Aston Villa management and the American Billionaire owner Randy Lerner.
One of the largest lorry mounted platforms available was required to clean the highest levels to accommodate the height and reach needed over the construction site. On a real tight programme and to minimise disruption to other trades Relko used sand bags and shift working patterns to control the water run off.
Following the cleaning operation the copings have been treated with a quality water repellent to help prevent the immediate re-growth of the algae spores.
