Relko Restoration and Masonry is a well-established company based in Walsall in the West Midlands. We have over thirty seven years experience in the Restoration, Conservation, and Specialist Cleaning of Historic, Modern and Ecclesiastical building facades, constructed with stone, brick, terracotta, concrete and stucco.

Family Run Business

We are a family run business that prides itself on having built a reputation for a first class service leading to repeat business, contracts and working relationships with a long list of clients. Examples include major construction companies to smaller local builders, breweries, architects, insurance companies, developers, property and landowners, county councils, estates, premises and maintenance offices/departments and similar.

We have on many occasions worked alongside local Conservation Officers and are converse in liaising and holding site meetings with architects, Clerk of Works, Main Contractors, engineers and similar to develop full project specifications, recommendations and methods of repair and cleaning.

Work is carried out to the British standards and recommendations contained in various Building and Research Establishment Digests such as BS8221 part 1 (2000) Code of Practice for Cleaning and Surface Repair of Buildings. (Cleaning of natural stones, brick, terracotta
and concrete). BS8221 Part 2. (Surface Repair of Natural Stone) and BS7913 1998. (Guide to Principal of Conservation of Historic Buildings).

Relko Restoration and Masonry Ltd are a Stone Federation member and cleaning is undertaken within the guidance as set out by the Stone Federation Guide of best practice for stone cleaning.

Our highly skilled Stone Masons, Bricklayers, Restorers, and Facade and Masonry Cleaners receive regular training to help improve their skill level in their particlar discipline i.e. Stone Masonry, Bricklaying or Masonry Restoration.

Apprentice Stone Masons attend York College to receive training either on day or block release and work towards an NVQ in banker masonry. Unfortunately as none of the established colleges run training courses for Fixing Masons, our apprentice fixing masons are trained and mentored onsite or within our own facilities by an experienced Mason in the skills required to fix new stone, marble, granite or carry out replacement of decaying stone.

Management have Nebosh and IOSH qualifications, Supervisory staff SMSTS and craftsmen are registered and certified with the Construction Skills Certification Scheme (CSCS).

We have been accredited with a Gold standard Certificate of Commitment to the
Furtherance of Competence and Safety in the workplace under the Construction Skills
Certification Scheme (certificate No CSCS00826).

Risk assessments, method statements, COSHH and data sheets and Health and Safety plans are provided for each individual project.

Our craftsmen are qualified and trainees registered for NVQ level 2 façade maintenance in cleaning and repairs. We have an active apprenticeship with operatives attending college either on block or day release schemes.

We are members of the Stone Federation of Great Britain, have CHAS accreditation and Construction Line.
